The Consulate performed long form improvisation. It grew out of several loose networks of classmates from the Upright Citizens Brigade and The Magnet Theater.
In 2009, The Consulate was appointed by the parliament of Improv to reside in New York City. It issued visas for those who went to Improv as well as birth and marriage certificates for local Improv nationals. The Consulate coordinated efforts to strengthen economic cooperation between Improv and the U.S. It was responsible for research on political issues and was dedicated to promoting knowledge and understanding of Improv in the jurisdiction. The Consulate provided support to Improvisers in case of emergency.
